International Solidarity

Can the arts play a role in preventing democracy from further eroding? Is it even possible for theatre companies in safe countries to respond to the violence of war in a meaningful way? Since a new war broke out in Europe, many Dutch theatre institutions and professionals have been asking themselves how they can ‘do something’ to give shape to our solidarity beyond our national borders. Where do you begin, what do you do with these good intentions? How do you get your organisation to follow your initiatives, and what do such gestures of solidarity look like in practice? Together with some pioneering institutions, International Solidarity explores the possibilities of contributing to an international arts community in a meaningful way, based on your own expertise.

Using his own concrete questions and the insights he gained in Hungary during a number of projects with Collectief Walden, Thomas Lamers, dramaturge and philosopher, will guide you through this part of the programme
